We need to talk: We really do. Scammers thrive on secrecy, so our general reluctance to even say the words ‘scam’ or ‘fraud’ is not helping. Even worse, embarrassment about having been scammed, or even near misses, keeps us even quieter. But we’ve all had near misses – and many more of us have been scammed than you might realize.
This site and its YouTube channel and social media accounts were created to help stop the cycle of secrecy by talking openly about various types of scams, how they happen, and what you can do to protect yourself and the people you care about.
Not everybody is up to speed; and those of us who are still have to stay on our toes because adapted and new scams come along all the time.
It’s time to shed so much light on scams that everyone can see them more clearly.
It’s time to develop the right skills so that we can all identify scams we’ve never seen before.
These same skills can also help us recognize other types of misinformation.
Here, you will find links to the YouTube videos, the source materials referred to in the videos, as well as other information, news and resources from around the web. It’s all about empowerment to be less likely to fall victim to the myriad scams and fraudulent schemes that cross our paths on a daily basis. “Whether we notice them or not, they’re there.”
In the meantime, there’s a lot of work to do, so best get to it! Please leave a Comment to say ‘hi’ or let me know what types of topics you would like to see covered. I would love to hear from you!
